Habitat:
It is known to be associated with montane forests; it is not known whether or not it can adapt to anthropogenic alteration of its forest habitat. The eggs are presumably laid on land, with the hatching larvae falling into streams to complete their development.

Range:
This species is known from Santo Domingo de los Colorados (the type locality), and from near to Mindo, in Pichincha Province in north-western Ecuador. It occurs at around 1,500 m asl. Its distribution is poorly understood.
