Habitat:
This species' habitat and ecological preferences are not well known, but it has been collected in evergreen tropical forest. Like other species in the genus, it is probably oviparous with a larval stage (D. Gower pers. comm. September 2020).

Range:
This is a poorly known species endemic to the Western Ghats in southern India. It is known with certainty only from the vicinity of Ooty, in the state of Tamil Nadu (Pillai and Ravichandran 1999). All other records are from the non-specific locality of "Malabar", hence the map only includes the Ooty locality. The elevational range is unknown.

Conservation:

Conservation Actions In-Place
This species does not occur in any protected areas. In the previous assessment (IUCN 2004) it was erroneously reported as occurring in Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu.

Research Needed
Further research on this species' distribution, population size, trends, ecology and threats is recommended.
