Habitat:
It is a subterranean species associated with humus-rich, loose, moist soil, and it has been reported from moist evergreen forest, agricultural land and rural gardens. Like other species in the genus, it is probably oviparous with a larval stage (D. Gower pers. comm. September 2020).

Range:
This species is endemic to southern India, where it was previously only known from the Western Ghats in central Kerala State, south of the Palghat Gap. It has also been recorded north of Palghat Gap from Payyanur and Ambalavayal (V. Govindappa pers. comm. September 2020). It has been recorded between 100–700 m asl. Reported specimens of this species from the state of Karnataka are unverified (M. Wilkinson pers. comm. 2004, India Red List Assessment Workshop September 2020), and are not included in the distribution map until further taxonomic work is done. It may occur more widely than is currently reported (India Red List Assessment Workshop September 2020).

Conservation Actions In-Place
This species does not occur in any protected areas.

Research Needed
Further research on this species' distribution, population size, trends, ecology and threats is recommended. Taxonomic research is also required to verify the identity of the subpopulations from Karnataka.
