Habitat:
This species occurs in thickets, palm groves, disturbed areas, low forests, and at the interface between forest and second growth (del Hoyo et al. 2019).

Range:
The Speckled Chachalaca ranges from eastern parts of Andes in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia along both margins of the Amazon River, to the western part of the Tapajós River, Brazil (Silviera et al. 2017, del Hoyo et al. 2019). The subspecies remota occurs in the Paraná River basin in northwestern São Paulo (Silveira et al. 2017).
