Habitat:
The original specimen may have been taken from a barbet or woodpecker in a rubber tree. It is probably a high-flier, and not too reliant on specific habitat types. The elevational range is thought to be around 400 m asl.

Range:
The type locality of this species is Tjibadak in western Java, Indonesia (Simmons 2005). The species is represented by four specimens collected in western Java (two in 1939 and two in 1990). This species could be more widespread than is currently known.

Conservation:
This species is not recorded from any protected areas. Additional survey work is required to establish its range, population status, ecology and threats.
