Habitat:
In Venezuela, this rare bat has been netted in multi-stratal tropical evergreen forest, primary forest and in a yard near a stream (Handley 1976, Ochoa et al. 1993). The diet probably consists of fruit, pollen, nectar, and insects (Gardner 1977).
Range:
This species is known from eastern Venezuela and northwestern Brazil (Griffiths and Gardner 2008). The single Colombian specimen was recently reviewed and proven to not be ega (Tew pers. comm.), some Brazilian records need verification.
Conservation:
More research on distribution, abundance, basic ecology and threats is urgently required. It is necessary to reduce habitat loss on the few localities where the species is present.
