Habitat:
It is presumed to have similar habitat requirements to N. certans, and occurs in primary and secondary forest, forest edge, and rural gardens in hill forests and at lower montane elevations. It is also presumed to occur in moss forest at mid-montane elevations. Meinig (2002) reports captures on Mansuar Island at 5 m asl.

Range:
This species is known from the Arfak Mountains on the Vogelkop Peninsula in western New Guinea. It has also been reported by Meinig (2002) as occurring on Mansuar Island, Indonesia, but this should be confirmed following the information provided by Irwin (2017) who did not examine representatives from there. The precise altitudinal range is not known.

Conservation:
It is presumed to be present in most protected areas within the species range (e.g., the Pegunungan Arfak Nature Reserve). Broadscale protection of forests will help maintain population size in this species. Comprehensive research into the species ecology, distribution, threats, and population status and trends are needed.
