This species has a restricted known range in northeastern Africa, from central Ethiopia north to Eritrea, and also from islands in the Red Sea including Farasan Island and Segid Island (=As-Saqid) of southwestern Saudi Arabia. It probably occurs more widely in this poorly explored region.

It occurs in the Awash National Park. Surveys are needed to determine the distribution of this species, both in northeastern Africa and in the Arabian peninsula.
