Habitat:
It presumably occurs in savanna areas where there is sufficient cover in the form of caves and mine tunnels for day roosting (Taylor 2000). It feeds exclusively on moths, and appears to be very sensitive to disturbance.

Range:
Percival's trident bat is largely confined to southern Africa, with records from South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal), Swaziland, south-east Botswana, southern Zambia, Zimbabwe (the core of the distribution), and extralimital records from southern Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, northwestern Mozambique, and coastal Kenya (Taylor 2000). It has also been found on Mafia Island in Tanzania (unpublished record). It elevational range is from sea level to 1,000 m.

Conservation:
In South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal province they are protected from human disturbance. It might occur in some protected areas. Protection of nesting and roosting sites from disturbance is important.
