Habitat:
This species has been recorded from dry forest, and dry and moist savanna habitats. Colonies are generally associated with caves.

Range:
This species is widely, but patchily, recorded over much of sub-Saharan Africa. It ranges from Senegal and The Gambia in the east, through West and Central Africa to Ethiopia and Eritrea in the east, and from here through East and southern Africa as far south as Namibia and northeastern South Africa.

Conservation:
In view of the species wide range in East and southern Africa it seems probable that it is present in several protected areas. No direct conservation measures are currently needed for this species as a whole.
