Habitat:
Records of this species are from primary lowland forest up to the lower limits of montane forest. There are several reports from caves and one from a tree buttress (Taylor, 1934; Heaney et al. 1991; Rickart et al. 1993; Heaney et al. 1998; Heaney et al. 2004). It has also been found frequently in heavily disturbed agricultural areas if there is second-growth vegetation near the caves where the bats roost (L. Heaney pers. comm. 2007).

Range:
This species is endemic to the Philippines, where it occurs widely. There are records from Batan, Bohol (FMNH), Busuanga, Camiguin (FMNH), Camotes (ROM), Catanduanes, Cebu, Dondonay (USNM), Gigante (ROM), Jolo, Leyte, Lubang (Lawrence, 1939), Luzon [Abra, Aurora (FMNH), Camarines Norte (FMNH), Camarines Sur, Cavite (FMNH), Isabela, Kalinga (Heaney et al., 2004), Laguna, Nueva Vizcaya (FMNH), Pampanga, Quezon (FMNH), Quirino (FMNH), Rizal (M.J. Veluz, pers. Comm. 2018, MHNG), Sorsogon, and Zambales (M.R. Duya, pers.comm. 2018) provinces], Leyte (Southern Leyte province, M.R. Duya, pers.comm. 2018), Marinduque, Maripipi, Mindanao [Bukidnon, North Cotabato, South Cotabato (Taylor, 1934) provinces], Mindoro (Duya, KU), Negros, Palawan, Panay (P.G. Jakosalem, pers. Comm. 2018, KU), Sabtang (KU), Sibuyan, and Tablas (KU) (Heaney et al. 1998). It is found at 250-1,100 m asl (Heaney et al. 1998).

Conservation:
It occurs in a number of protected areas.
