Habitat:
The Tasmanian Dusky Antechinus is mostly found in rainforests and eucalypt forests, especially where there is dense cover and thick leaf litter (Baker et al. 2015). Like A. mimetes (the Mainland Dusky Antechinus), it hunts arthropods and worms in moist soil and leaf litter.
Breeding is in September-October (Green 1972, Baker et al. 2015).

Range:
Following taxonomic revision (Baker et al. 2015), this species is now considered restricted to Tasmania where it is widespread ('other than the far south-east on Tasman Peninsula': Baker et al. 2015). Abbott and Burbidge (1995) also report it from Bruny Island.

Conservation:
The Tasmanian Dusky Antechinus is present in many protected areas. There are no other targeted conservation actions for this species. It is not listed as threatened under Australian legislation.
