The Family Galagidae, commonly known as galagos or bush babies, comprises small, nocturnal primates native to sub-Saharan Africa. They are highly agile leapers, with strong hind limbs and long tails that aid in balance, allowing them to navigate trees efficiently. Galagids have large, forward-facing eyes for excellent night vision and acute hearing to locate insects and other prey. They are primarily omnivorous, feeding on insects, fruits, and tree gums, and are mostly solitary or small-family dwelling. Galagidae play an important ecological role in seed dispersal and insect population control, and they are known for their distinctive, high-pitched calls.
