Habitat:
Euoticus elegantulus lives in primary and secondary lowland and mid-altitude moist forests. This nocturnal, arboreal species primarily feeds on gums and resins from trees and lianas, supplemented by invertebrates. Foraging individuals follow a regular route in the forest canopy, visiting gum-producing sites in sequence, and making an average of 100 gum-collections each hour (Charles-Dominique 1977, Ambrose 1999). Individuals forage alone but sleep communally. Females give birth to a single offspring annually (Charles-Dominique 1977).

Range:
Euoticus elegantulus occurs between the Sanaga River in Cameroon and the Congo and Ubangui Rivers in Republic of the Congo. Present in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea (Rio Muni), Republic of Congo,  Angola (Cabinda enclave), and Democratic Republic of Congo (Kongo Central Province, north of the Congo River) (Ambrose 2013).

Conservation:
This species is listed on Appendix II of CITES. Known to occur, or likely occurs, in many major protected areas in the region, including Boumba-Bek, Campo Ma’an and Lobéké National Parks and the Dja Biosphere Reserve in Cameroon; Dzanga-Ndoki National Park in Central African Republic; Monte Alen National Park in Equatorial Guinea (Rio Muni); the 12 terrestrial national parks of Gabon; Conkouati-Douli, Odzala-Koukoua and Nouabalé-Ndoki National Parks in Republic of Congo; andMaiombe National Park, Angola (Cabinda).
