Habitat:
This species is found in submontane and montane pristine forest. The species is usually observed in trees and not on the ground and is active both night and day (Phillipps and Phillipps 2016).

Range:
This species is endemic to montane Borneo. In Sarawak isolated populations are found on several mountains (Gng Dulit, Gng Mulu and Gng Murud) and in Sabah it is found on Mts. Kinabalu, Trus Madi, and the Crocker Range (Phillipps and Phillipps 2106). Recorded from 1,200 m to elevations of 3,350 m (Corbet and Hill 1992). It is considered to have a shrinking distribution (Phillipps and Phillipps 2016).

Conservation:
It occurs in Crocker Range National Park (Sabah, Malaysia). It is listed on CITES Appendix II.
