Habitat:
This nocturnal species inhabits dry evergreen and peninsular monsoonal evergreen and lowland forests (Das 2010, Chan-ard et al. 2015). It has been found on the ground, near the base of trees and on large stones. Young are found in low vegetation (Chan-ard et al. 2015). The species occurs in secondary forest, but not in anthropogenic habitats (M. Cota pers. comm. 2017).

Range:

This species occurs from southern Myanmar (Tenasserim, Bago, Mandalay) to Thailand (where it is widespread but occurs in scattered localities down as far as Trang, which are thought to represent genuine isolates outside a relatively continuous range in Nakhon Si Thammarat - M. Cota pers. comm. 2017). While Das (2010) reports that it ranges as far south as northern Peninsular Malaysia, the species is not recognized for Malaysia by Grismer (2011) and does not occur in this country according to L. Grismer (pers. comm. 2017). A report from Kalimatan in Borneo (Harvey et al. 2016) is based on a single museum record without a specific locality, and is in need of confirmation (D.T. Iskandar pers. comm. 2017).

Conservation:
The species occurs in multiple protected areas in Thailand and at least two in Myanmar.
