Class Magnoliopsida, commonly known as dicotyledons or dicots, is a major group of flowering plants (angiosperms) characterized by seeds with two embryonic leaves, or cotyledons. Members of this class typically exhibit net-like (reticulate) leaf venation, vascular bundles arranged in a ring within the stem, and flower parts usually in multiples of four or five. Dicots include a wide variety of plants, ranging from trees and shrubs to herbs, and are ecologically and economically important, providing food, timber, medicines, and ornamental plants. Well-known examples include sunflowers, roses, beans, and oaks. Their structural features and diverse adaptations make them a key component of terrestrial ecosystems.
