The Family Ranidae, commonly known as true frogs, is a widespread group of amphibians found on every continent except Antarctica. Members of this family typically have slender bodies, long powerful hind legs, and webbed feet, adaptations that make them excellent jumpers and swimmers. Ranids are mostly aquatic or semi-aquatic, laying eggs in water that hatch into tadpoles before metamorphosing into adults. They are carnivorous, feeding on insects, worms, and other small invertebrates.
